You Think Santa Forgot?

It's true, Santa Claus has completed his 2010 gift run, and can be found reclining at the North Pole.  If there was way too much 'free air' beneath your tree, then I suggest you start to be a little concerned.  It appears that you have somehow made it to Santa's 'naughty' list and you now have less than a year to change the situation.

You can still find info about the NORAD Santa Tracker, and also the 'Naughty and Nice' list if you follow Santa here.

Merry Christmas to All!

Safoorah Khan - Muslim Teacher

I am still pondering this one.

She is a teacher at Berkeley School in the suburbs of Chicago
She is Muslim
She asks for 3 week unpaid leave to make pilgrimage to Mecca
School District twice turns her down
She filed a lawsuit in federal court
The government tells the school district to adopt policies to accommodate employee religious practices and beliefs, and to reinstate Khan with back pay and also pay her compensatory damages.
Then Khan filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity commission, which found reasonable cause that discrimination had occurred and forwarded the matter to the U.S. Justice Department.

More to follow, but this might be the lesson:  Be careful before you hire a Muslim!

Milwaukee Tragedy

In the midst of an apartment renovation project, a 33-year-old man lost his life.  This is one of those freak accidents that is hard to believe.
The crew working on the fourth floor needed to remove an old refrigerator from the building.  They decided the most efficient way to get the refrigerator out was to throw it off the fourth floor porch.  They yelled down to the ground to make sure the coast was clear and they did not hear a response.  So the refrigerator goes off the ledge.  At the same instant one of their co-workers stepped into the path of the falling appliance.  The man died at the scene of the accident.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating, as they do with all fatalities.   They will most likely determine that this accident was preventable, but that would have required some extra effort.  The man's name had not been released, but he was described as "a family man with a warm heart and a zest for life."

The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane

The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane

by Katherine Howe

(book review in progress)

I am now past the halfway mark and find the book pretty interesting.   The plot of the story is occurring in 1991, but the content of the story goes back to the late 1600's.  The author does a good job with switching between past and present.  Transitions are clear and there is no confusion.  The information I have gleaned about the Salem witch trials has been interesting.  My continued enjoyment of the book will depend in part on how far they go into the witchcraft.  In addition, it certainly seems that there is an underlying scheme going on and it probably has to do with Connie's faculty advisor.

Oh yes, I will keep reading!

Kopi Luwak

The best coffee and the most unique.  The supply is limited, but if you can find it you will likely pay $25 or more for a cup.  Wow, this must be special!  I have not had the pleasure, but from what I understand your taste buds will not be disappointed.

If you can drink it, that is.

Best Cup of Coffee Ever!

Bullied at School

I have published an article regarding how my daughter has been bullied in school.  She is handling the bullies as best as she can, and we have tried to encourage her and keep her strong through the process.

Maybe you have had a similar situation with one of your children.  Hopefully some of the suggestions here will be of benefit to you.

Caramel Coconut Tips

A few weeks ago I just happened to pop into a Dollar General store and decided to look for a snack.  If you find me in Dollar General, it would be safe to assume that I do not want to spend much.  So, I spent one dollar.  The snack I got was just absolutely delicious - truly hard to put down.

Are you curious?  Are you hungry?  Are you getting the car keys?

Caramel Coconut Tips - a Homestyle Candy made by Crown.  Round pieces of candy, maybe about one inch in diameter.  They were so good.  It was truly hard to stop at a few.  The Caramel flavor was delicious, and yet seemed to be unique in some way.

So, next time you have opportunity to pop into Dollar General, make sure you save one dollar for some yummy Caramel Coconut Tips.  Hopefully, they will have them in stock.  Be assured, I am not sharing mine!

Somebody has already traveled this road!

Starbucks Coffee - Great Coffee

The bag of coffee beans has been empty for at least two weeks, and still when I squeeze it I cannot believe the wonderful coffee aroma that rushes at my nose.  Yes!

We are talking about Starbucks, House Blend.

Tasting notes = Lively, Balanced
Flavor Intensity = Medium
Origin = Latin America

And yes, I did buy whole bean coffee so it would be as fresh as possible.

About House Blend

(from the bag)  "When we opened our first store in Seattle's Pike Place Market, we wanted a House Blend that captured the signature expression of our roasting style - glistening, dark chestnut beans loaded with flavor.  Years later, it's still why people come through our doors.  House Blend has a wonderful balance of body, crisp acidity, nut and cocoa notes, and a touch of sweetness from the roast."

Serving Suggestion

Enjoy Starbucks with a slice of banana nut bread and an overstuffed chair.

Latin American

"In Latin America, hundreds of years of coffee tradition have passed along the ritual of washing coffee beans free of their sticky, protective "honey."  This washing process imprints all of the coffee grown there with a crisp flavor and palate-cleansing activity."

Starbucks Shared Planet (Eco-Crap)

100% Responsibly Grown, Ethically Traded.

"That means the coffee in this bag is helping to create a better future for farmers and a more stable climate for the planet.  Because we've always believed in a better cup of coffee."

Exclusivity

"Only 3% of the coffee grown around the world is good enough to make it into a bag of Starbucks coffee.  And it's always 100% arabica.

There you have it - everything you wanted to know about my recent Starbucks experience.

Want to know more about Starbucks?

The Truth About Airport Security

Not until today had I heard the truth about airport security concerns and what happened on Thanksgiving.  It kind of makes me mad that mainstream media is so willing to deceive the masses.  Turns out that Big Sis lost this one.

"Big Sis’s security talk is nothing more than hot air. If the scanners were so imperative to keep us safe from terrorists then why did the TSA turn them off in a vain effort to score political points?"

Big Sis must be damned either way.  She is damned for implementing harassment security.  She is also damned for deciding to change security protocol for the sake of political crowd control.  Tell me, why did people have to put up with groping, when it can be stopped at Big Sis' whim.

Grope and Change

While reading an article today, I came across a revealing phrase"

Janet Incompetano's "grope and change" policies.

Do you know what it is referring to?

The actual name is Janet Napolitano who is head of Homeland Security.  There once was a 'historical' president that campaigned on the theme "hope and change".   But this says grope!

The topic is airport security measures and how they are implemented by TSA employees.  When people became aware of how revealing the full body scan images were, many became uneasy about participating.  The fact that TSA employees were gawking at the images and making jokes did not help either.

People who declined the full body scan were told that they would need to go through a pat down procedure.  This was expected and initially a big problem for the travellers.  However, the TSA employees resented the travellers because of the extra work.  It was at this time that we started to hear complaints from people about how intense the pat down procedure was getting.

Apparently, at about the same time, Incompetano had issued a directive saying just how intense these pat downs should be.  You've all seen the news reports, so I need not repeat them here.  It would appear that so far they are stopping just short of body cavity searches, but everything else is fair game.

Women passengers have testified of feeling molested and are in tears after the pat down.  Incompetano and her TSA goons are ruthless, they do not care at all because they are deluded into thinking this is keeping people safe from terrorists.

Ann Coulter  has written a wonderful article on this topic and here is what she suggests you may soon here the TSA agents announcing:

"Please have your genitalia out and ready to be fondled when you approach the security checkpoint."

What a perfect time for the sexual perverts of the land to come out and save the country.  They could fly often and make the TSA agents wish they had never shoved their hands down someones pants.  Go Pervs!

It's Not Summer Without You

It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han

The book is mostly focused on this relationship between Belly and Conrad, and the loss due to the death of Conrad's mother.  But is it a relationship?.  Is it weird or just sad that this relationship is about 90% in Belly's head?  For the most part, Conrad has not shown anything like love for Belly.  If only Jeremiah could actually communicate what is in his heart?

This was not one of my favorites, but it is interesting.  You will enjoy seeing life through young people's eyes.

From the book cover:

Belly was ecstatic when Conrad, the son of her mom's best friend and the boy she'd loved for years, finally kissed her.  But when Conrad's mom dies, he withdraws from everyone and eventually disappears completely.  Not sure where to start looking, Belly and Conrad's brother Jeremiah figure Conrad's college is a good place to start - but they soon learn he's actually at the family beach house.

When Belly and Jeremiah find Conrad, they realize he wasn't running away - he'd come to keep the house from being sold.  Belly's romantic feelings for Conrad begin to resurface even as she's growing closer to Jeremiah, and as emotions run high, it's unclear if things will ever go back to normal - especially when a real estate agent shows up.

Popular author Jenny Han captures perfectly how young people think when it comes to relationships.

Obama Did It First

If you are one of those 10,000 people who still admire obama, then you will enjoy this slide show.  It is a long list of things that obama is the first president to have done.  Pictures and videos are included.

Obama Did It First

If you watched the above, you will notice that most of it is meaningless fluff.  It is obvious that obama invests a lot of thought into what he can do to get attention.

Even more interesting is the List of Obama Firsts posted by reader Peterike.   These are the issues that people care about and have much to do with the upcoming election.  I cannot vouch for all of these, and there are few I cannot even explain.  Still makes an interesting read.  Someday when they do a Who's Who book on obama, they will be looking for this list.

Begin Peterike:
A vast new health care monstrosity that will send private insurance rates through the ceiling. The Machiavellian way in which it was slammed through. Failed stimulus. Wasteful pork-barrel spending of hundreds of billions in borrowed money. Persistent near 10% unemployment. Three trillion dollars in new debt in just two years. Record levels of federal spending. The vast increase in the size of government and its share of GDP. Eight years of projected $1 trillion annual budget deficits. Record high foreclosures. Record high usage of food stamps. The Keynesian zeal of Romer/Summers/Orzag followed by their sudden resignations in the wake of failure. Constant talk of higher taxes on “them”— the promised new health care surcharge taxes, the promised return to the Clinton income tax rates, talk of a VAT, talk of lifting the caps on income subject to FICA taxes, new capital gains taxes, new inheritance taxes on the horizon.

The use of extra-cabinet czars to avoid confirmation and audit. The neglect of the law, from reversing the order of Chrysler creditors to announcing a BP $20 billion shakedown and punishments for health insurers who don’t toe the line. The ascendance of ACORN and SEIU. The months-long shutdown of Gulf drilling. The failure to encourage coal, nuclear, and oil and gas new production. The Black Panther voting intimidation mess. The bowing abroad. The apologies. The outreach to enemies, and the snubbing of allies. The unnecessary humiliation of Great Britain and Israel. The Iran serial “deadline” charade. The unnecessary announcement of Afghan troop withdrawal deadlines. “Overseas contingency operations” and “man-made disasters.” The proposed civilian trial of KSM. The Ground Zero mosque mess. The beer summit mess. NASA’s new main mission of Muslim outreach. Stopping the border fence. Suing Arizona and demonizing the state. The apologies to the Chinese over the Arizona law, which was trashed from the White House lawn by the president of Mexico, and sued by foreign governments to the apparent approval of the administration.

The constant “Bush did it” refrain. The gratuitous slurs against limb-lopping doctors. The thrashing of the “rich” going to the Super Bowl and Las Vegas. The artificial divide of them/us based on $250,000 of annual income. The racial divisiveness from a sad cast of characters that gave us “cowards,” “stupidly,” “wise Latina,” and whites polluting the ghetto. Unhinged appointees like Van Jones and Anita Dunn. The occasional unguarded admissions like “never waste a crisis” and “at some point I do think you’ve made enough money.” The wacky behavior from the whining of “like a dog” to the sudden junketing to Copenhagen to lobby for the Chicago Olympics. The Orwellian cheap damning of the Bush anti-terrorism protocols only to accept or expand tribunals, renditions, Guantanamo, Predators, Iraq, and intercepts and wiretaps. The golf obsession and Costa del Sol while trashing the indulgent rich.

-- stolen from Victor Davis Hanson, thank you very much

Say NO to the Obama Regime

Say NO to obama.  Disappoint him at every turn.  Find an obama supporter (loser) and cause them to re-evaluate.  Oppose obama.  Punish your enemies and reward those who want what is best for this country.

Can you vote with big heavy boots on.  These would be for stomping losers.

The Last Song

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

You will get pulled into the lives of the characters in this well-written book.  It is helpful to hear the thoughts of an angry seventeen-year-old girl who is in major rebellion, and she is in contrast to her wide-eyed younger brother.  Meet the other rebellious teens who find her right away.  Meet the Dad who will choose to be calm, patient and loving with his children.  Meet a Pastor who is a life long friend of the father.  Meet the mother, who has kept a secret of her own.  Meet the rebellious friends, who are not friends at all.  Meet the good guy and see that even that love will take a while to blossom.

That is enough, you will just have to read it!

From the book cover:
Seventeen-year-old Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller's life was turned upside down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.  Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, particularly her father ... until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she and her younger brother spent the summer with him in North Carolina. .....

An unforgettable story of love in all its myriad forms!

How to Waterboard Your Girlfriend

Sometimes modern-day relationships involve the need of very specialized information.  This is information generally not available to the public.  I do not want you to be ignorant of what you need to know if you get in one of these situations, so I thought I would pass on this creative way to get your girlfriend's attention.

(Note: Reason for this sudden outburst from the husband is that it deals with the loss of his son.)

If you want to waterboard your girlfriend:

1.  Stuff hospital socks into her mouth.

2.  Bind her wrists with belts and hair ties.

3.  Put a shirt over her head (color not important)

4.  Pour a pitcher of water over her head.

The purpose of water boarding is to make the person feel like they are drowning, without actually drowning.  keep that in mind.

Disclaimer

I do not advocate, promote, encourage,  waterboarding of your girlfriend.

I have never waterboarded anyone.

These steps are from another, and they have not been proven.

This is the first and only example I have of waterboarding technique.  The link is below.  Hopefully this will give you the information you need.

Still waiting to hear the girl friend's perspective.

Chavez Accuses O-I

O-I has invested money in two glass manufacturing plants in Venezuela and is providing jobs to about 1000 Venzuelans.  Still Hugo Chavez accuses the company:

"The leftist leader criticized the company's practices in the country, saying it had been "taking away the money of Venezuelans and exploiting local people. Chavez did not detail his complaints about the company."

Meanwhile, O-I, is trying to be very cool and politically correct.   (We surely would not want to say anything bad about the dictator Chavez (friend of obama).)

"There was no immediate reaction from the company, based in Perrysburg, Ohio. "

Another source reported the accusation this way:

Owens-Illinois, the world’s largest producer of glass containers, was exploiting workers and damaging the environment, Mr. Chavez said in comments carried on late-night state television.

“The expropriation is already ready of this glass company. What’s it called? Owens-Illinois. Expropriate it,” Mr. Chavez said. “Owens-Illinois is a company with North American capital that has been exploiting workers.”

Doesn't this sound just like obama who also is opposed to conmpanies with capital, companies with profits and companies that provide real job.  Hugo Chavez and Obama are certainly two peas in a pod.

Latinos to Punish Their Enemies

Obama told a latino crowd “If Latinos sit out the election, instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,’ if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it’s gonna be harder . . . "

Obama, in trying to get more latino votes, gives the Latino crowd this charge - "Punish our enemies,... reward our friends."  What does this mean, and how do the Latinos (legal and illegal) interpret this?
How about you?  As you have thought about making your choices in the voting booth, have you figured out how you are going to punish your enemies?  Do you think if you vote for obama, he will reward you as a friend?

These comments are typical of obama.

Crowley added: "This is nothing new. Ever since this man became president nearly two years ago now,
he has constantly used this kind of incredibly divisive rhetoric. He seems to forget that he's no longer campaigning."

"He's the president of the United States. The president is supposed to be the president of all the people, even those who disagree with his agenda and who disagree with him," Crowley said.

Obama is not the president of the USA, he is the president of his agenda, and anyone who supports his agenda.  That certainly leaves most Republicans out (Cheers!)

Obama Continues to Ride the Racism Bus

In my previous post, I wrote about obama's desire for Republicans to ride in the back of the bus, and I raised the question if such a comment is acceptable.

The answer is no!

Dr. Timothy F. Johnson, head of the National Black Republican Association said,

"Once again the president is perpetuating the racism that exists, and [is] portrayed by the so-called Civil Rights organizations and their leaders," Johnson stated.  "Americans are sick and tired of these divisive statements the president continues to make," he added. "Our first objective is November 2, 2010.  "Next is to find the next president of the United States, and retire President Obama to Chicago, Hawaii, or Kenya in Nov. 2012," stated Johnson.

Thank you Dr. Timothy F. Johnson.  I commend you for calling out obama on his use of the race card.  He did it in his campaign, and has continued to do it sense.  I wonder who's vote he is trying to capture during these last days of panic with such comments.

National Black Republican Association, and other such groups deserve to be commended.  As I see it they will not rely on matching skin color to make political decisions.  They are intelligent Americans that want leadership in Washington that will make good decisions and lead America to recovery.

Obama to the back of the bus, NOW!

Speaking of Obama:

"He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, "we can't have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.""

So, the GOP can watch, but they have to sit in the back of the bus.  Yet, when things don't work as dreamed, then it will be the fault of the GOP.  This is the protocol used for the first two years, and the same will apply to the next two years.

Something, I was wondering though, is it OK (not politically correct, just OK) for me to tell obama that he can ride in the back of the bus?  That shows proper respect, right?

Obama cares not what 67% of Americans say

Two thirds of the American people know that the 'historical' president and his leftist government have accomplished nothing good for the country. Two thirds of the American people know that America must choose a different direction if we want to prosper again. The welfare state is a downward spiral.

As we approach the upcoming election, we see that obama's democrats are frantically trying to save their cushy jobs, but every day more and more Americans are waking up to the truth.

obama's democrats have nothing, absolutely nothing to demonstrate the success of their socialist, big government program. They have made unemployment rise, even after borrowing trillions of dollars and promising millions of jobs.

The only thing obama has to offer the people is to blame the GOP. That does not sound like a plan that will make things better. The whole idea of obama blaming the GOP is ridiculous if you think about it. democrats controlled congress during President Bush's last two years. For the last two years, they have controlled everything and have often eliminated GOP members of congress from the process. Their is no basis to blame the GOP. How can they be the party of 'NO' when they were not given the chance to vote?

Obama made it clear to the GOP three days after his inauguration that he did not want their input.  His comments when the GOP made some suggestions were "Elections have consequences.  I won".  Yes, that was said by the post-partisan president.  How could any other political party work with that kind of arrogant attitude.  Because obama insisted on going it alone, he now must shoulder all the blame for his failure.

Why the blame rests with the democrats alone

How to steal a glass container manufacturing plant

On the evening of October 25th, O-I learned that Hugo Chavez (dictator, Venezuela) had expropriated the company's two manufacturing facilities in Venezuela.  The company had no advance notice of this.  Apparently the Venezuelan military positioned at one of the two facilities was a show of strength that the dictator could not be challenged.  O-I is not the first company to have this happen, and they will not be the last.

This is an appropriate word picture for Americans at this time, because this is exactly where the obama agenda is heading.  obama, like chavez, believes that government has or should have absolute power over every individual and every business.  Stay tuned America, we might be next!

Let Freedom Ring

A friend pointed me in the direction of this video.  The cold hard facts are that obama has no concern for the freedoms of the people.  That is why he can be so casual about destroying the freedoms of other people.  Long before obama, bill ayers and other such people were a gang, we manipulated ourselves.

Ever increasing governmental control and the required taxation to support it is the opposite of guarding our inheritance.

Where Have I Heard That Before?

Over the last couple of years I have found that I really enjoy listening to audio books.  It's not the same as reading a book, but it is every bit enjoyable.   Many times I have been pulled into a book to the point that I do not want to stop listening.

Well, I have listened to a lot of books from the library, so when I go there I try to not pick books I have already listened to.  Occasionally, though, I will grab a book and not recognize that it will be a re-run.

I just had that happen again with a book called 'Smooth Talking Stranger' by Lisa Kleypas.  I did not recognize the title or the cover of the book.  But within the first couple minutes of listening there was one sentence that I immediately recognized.  Then, slowly at first, and more following, other scenes from the book started to come back.  Point of decision:  do I listen again, or get one I have not yet listened to?  I chose to listen again, this time, but do not always do so.

Our brains store information by connecting new information to existing information.  When we read a book, a lot of that information is retained in our brain.  We may not know it, but given the right trigger, the scenes will begin to replay.  Wow, that is neat!

Being Kind to Hillary

Seldom, if ever, have I been kind to Hillary Clinton.  I did vote for her in the 2008 primary, hoping to knock obama down a notch.  But I have forgiven myself for that little bit of 'political gaming'.

Recently came across this photo of Hillary and I thought it really did her well.  The secret lies behind that smile.  For all you Clinton lovers, enjoy!

Obama Who?

As our president runs around the country in a last ditch effort to find some support for his failed team and to spur his voters on, something interesting is happening.  Those who until recently called themselves democrats are going into hiding.  If you call them and ask their political party, you will likely get the 'click' of a disconnected call.

Polls from both Gallup and Rasmussen show an unusually low percentage of democrats across the land.  Why are they hiding?  That portion of these democrats that truly care about America are ashamed.  They know that democrats have controlled Congress since 2006, so tyring to place all the blame on President Bush is just silly.  They also remember all the promises and hype from 'The One' in 2008 and now see that he delivered on nothing.  Not only has he accomplished nothing good, his entire direction has been towards American defeatism.  Now they see this little guy with the big, arrogant and angry countenance blasting away.

At a time when he should be reminding people of the successes of this past twenty months, he has nothing to offer except Bush bashing.  Oh yes, there are also the numerous fantasy job and economy improvement numbers he likes to throw around.  That is it, and it is truly a shame.

Another shameful aspect of this Obama Hussein is that he does not even try to unite the country.  He openly criticizes and bashes those who do not agree with his liberal left policies.  Apparently he is content to be leader to a portion of this country.

So, if you are a democrat, then man-up and learn from your mistakes.  If you still think obama is a keeper, then you are hopeless!

Healthcare Disaster Starting

As obama hussein's socialist agenda launches health care, Americans remain convinced that they need to get this thing revoked.  The troubles in the meantime will begin to unfold.

Remember how obama continued to assure everyone that they could keep their own insurance if they wanted to.  Then remember Pelosi said don't worry about the contents of obamacare, we will figure that out after it is passed.

So McDonald's starts to look at the details and they realize that they cannot provide insurance for thousands of employees that meets obamacare requirements.  This was reported here.

In less than a week, we learn that 30 companies, including McDonald's have been granted a one year waiver from certain requirements in obamacare.  (On a side note, I wonder how many votes and political favors were wrapped into this negotiation, for that is the only time liberals help big business.)

This is such a good example of how this 1000 page bill that will cost taxpayers billions of dollars has had very little thought.

So, Is Obama "dat nigga"?

At Obama's invitation, rapper Bob came to entertain at the Whitehouse.  Obama is certainly not a man of class, culture or decency, so you probably would not expect much.  But, then again, he is president.  Listen to the video at this site, and see if you think Obama is "dat nigga".(translation=that nigger).

Even The Unions

Even the Unions are forced to accept the right thing, sometimes.  Chrysler has fired 13 auto workers who were caught drinking and smoking pot during their lunch break.  They were caught red-handed by Fox News Detroit.  Without the pressure of nationwide media coverage, I suspect that the jobs would not have been terminated.  Chalk up one for the right side.

Maybe next week they can nab another group!

Crashing Hollywood Idol Lindsay Lohan

Another Hollywood Idol crashes and burns, again.  They start off young and beautiful and have everything going for them.  They they tend to get arrogant and conceited and come to the conclusion that they are invincible and their is no pleasure they should be denied.  But in the end, they pay the price, and it is a huge price.  This is not funny and I do not mock Lindsay Lohan or wish her anything bad.  This is sad, and dangerous for those who follow.

Mourning in America

The sobering truth is that this President and this Congress are destroying our country.  The damage they are doing exceeds that of 9/11.  It is time for change, and that change consists of driving out of office anyone choosing to line up with obamanism.

Besides the Brawl

There was a brawl between Harry Reid supporters and Sharron Angle supporters in Nevada.  Imagine democrats and the Tea Party having different perspectives about the upcoming election.

Rev. Robin, who arranged the political forum had this to say:

"I didn't expect anything like this, not in a million years," said the Rev. Robin Joyce, one of the organizers of the event at Faith Lutheran Junior/Senior High School in Summerlin. "Our whole aim was to have an educational forum to hear from the candidates about their economic positions."

What struck me as bizarre is the notion that you need an "educational forum" to understand the economic position of Dingy Harry.  His record is clear.  His record is long, lasting and corrupt.  Anybody who doesn't care enough to learn that probably isn't intelligent enough to participate in the forum.  Wake Up, People!  In some cases, arranging such a forum is a really bad idea.

About the brawl

The Brown Bailout

The Brown Bailout is an effort by the Teamsters (which control UPS) to harm their competition, Fed Ex.  There is a different regulatory basis for the two delivery services, which is why Fed Ex has been able to remain non-union.  This is explained more in the source link below.

Well, I am all for non-union, and totally opposed to any bill that would benefit unions like the Teamsters.  Unions are harmful to many for the benefit of a few.  It would not be good to have the same union controlling both of these high volume delivery services.

A Room Full of Success

A friend of mine on mylot, took a look around her room and found these seven challenges toward success.  I think they are pretty good and a reminder for us all.

1. Roof said to me, "Aim High!"
2. Fan said to me, "Be Cool!"
3. Clock said to me, "Every minute is Precious!"
4. Mirror said to me, "Reflect before you Act."
5. Window said to me, "See the World."
6. Calendar said to me, "Be up to Date!"
7. and Door said to me, "Push hard to Achieve your Goals!!!!"

Have a successful day.

KFC Double Down Is Not Enough

KFC has a marketing campaign riding on the note-worthy buns of some college girls.  How could this fail on a college campus?  In a MyLot discussion I was motivated to suggest that KFC might not want to stop there.

Please do not be offended if this a bit overboard.  Just having fun.

Obama the Spendaholic

Obama is just like an immature person that has just learned how easy it is to go to an ATM and withdraw money.  Their is a tendency to just keep going back, because you can always think of more things you 'need'.

That's how Obama is, but he does it in billions!  Wanting to begin healthcare implementation, he says he needs another $20 billion dollars.  I thought there was some massive chunk of the stimulus funds that was supposed to cover healthcare.  Where did all the stimulus money go, since it is apparently gone?

America, you have been SCREWED!

More Billions!

USA USA USA USA USA

A chicken hawk chant?  Some idiot professor at the University of Illinois criticized students chanting this at a football game.  He said it is not being sensitive (rather offensive) to the Muslims.

This is the hard and fast fact every American better get a hold of.  The day we cannot chant USA USA, is the day we start a massive exportation of Muslims and any other anti-American.

Being Tracked

Although I live somewhere in the vicinity of Toledo, Ohio, I am currently on a business trip to Denver, Colorado.  My internet access is through the wireless service of the hotel I am staying at.  When I posted the previous entry, the google ad that appeared almost immediately was for a Denver deal of the day.  So how did whoever know I was in Denver, or is that just coincidence.

I suggest that the IP address I am connected through indicated Denver and that was used by Google ads to place the Denver ad in my post.  Will that change when I go back home.

Learn something new everyday, don't we!

Response To The Pledge To America

Today the GOP is releasing the details of their new Pledge to America.  It is a good solid platform aimed at what will restore the economy of the U.S.  It is not aimed at social issues, but thankfully will eliminate federal funding of the murder of babies.

Rep. Steny Hoyer (worthless dem) issued a mocking comment which was full of generalized false stereotypes often used by the democrats.  It is so typical, dems just spout their worn out buzz phrases and cannot even talk intelligently.

More success for the GOP, if they are going to rise to the challenge and stand for the values that America Great.

I am looking for some new friends at MyLot, and specifically for those who share my pro-America, anti-obama views of life.

Here is my list so far:

Locker Room Surprise!

She goes into the locker room of the New York Jets, and she felt like the men were watching her.  Where would one start to educate the reporter from Mexico.  I guess men in Mexico would consider this dressing modestly.

Now she has made it a cause to protect other women.

''I don't want to make it a bigger deal,'' she said. ''I have confidence in the NFL and the Jets' management and I know that this will serve as a precedent so that this does not happen to another women.''

T.E.A Party - Australian Style

According to an article in the Australian, the TEA Party movement is underway in Australia. TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already. It is a grass roots movement that started in the United States where it is giving the people a fresh voice for the government to hear. The TEA Party movement is mostly conservative, but its focus is on issues that both Republicans and Democrats (those that can think for themselves) want to stand behind.

They focus on these three questions:
  • What should be the role of government in the economy?
  • What should be the role of government in people's lives?
  • Do you believe that you can spend your money better than the government?
The TEA Party is not a political party, but rather a political movement hoping to influence existing political parties. The group does back individual politicians, but so far they are not saying who that will be in Australia.

I think this will be a positive thing for the Australian people and their government. I hope it proves to be so.

Below are links to the source article and their new website.

Kalooki Nights

by Howard Jacobson

Do you like things Jewish?  Then you might like this book.  There is lots of dialogue from Max Glickman about being raised Jewish and what that means.  Unlike his best friend, Max was not raised as a strict Jew, rather his father taught him how to keep it mild and not be a fanatic.  You can read below and see where the story goes, but the honest truth is, this is one of a few books that I did not even bother to finish.  There is a fair amount of swearing in the text, most of which serves no purpose but to offend the ear.

From the book cover:

"Life should have been sunny for Max Glickman, growing up in peacetime with his mother's glamorous card evenings to look forward to, and photographs of his father's favourite boxers on the walls.  But other voices whisper to him of Buchenwald, extermination, and the impossibility of forgetting.  Fixated on the crimes that have been committed against his people, but unable to live among them, Max moves away, marries out, and draws cartoon histories of Jewish suffering in which no one, least of all the Jews is much interested.  But it's a life, or it seems a life until Max's childhood friend Manny is released from prison."

A False Sense Of Well Being

by Jeanne Braselton

This was an interesting read as far as seeing people think, say and do, but for me not a top notch.  Jessie Maddox is dealing with a boring marriage, and at the same time comparing her life to a married friend having an affair and a sister who parties with lots of guys.  I would imagine there are plenty of women that have gone through a similar kind of life analysis at some point.  The book is well written and seems real to life.

Book Cover Summary:
"Thirty eight year old Jessie Maddox seems to live the perfect suburban life in her quiet Georgia town.  But her husband, Turner, the very model of a dutiful partner and responsible citizen, is terribly dull.  Jessie can't stop thinking of all the ways Turner might die and the opportunities she would have to play the grieving widow.  Before doing something she'll regret, she heads to her Alabama hometown to regroup.  But her family doesn't exactly provide the vacation she needs."

Watch the Quran Burn

In this world of endless video clips, I fully expect we will be able to watch the 'burning of the Quran' tomorrow.  I am not sure who will be the first to do it, but certainly someone will torch the Koran and video record it for all to see on YouTube.

Maybe it will be Pastor Bob Old from Springfield, TN.  More power to him.  It is a wake up call that is desperately needed!

Comment:  Hardly dramatic, I did find this video of one brave American.  Listen to the nastiness coming from the media people around him.  They, like Obama, believe that religious freedoms are primarily for the Muslims.  This guy did alright!

Time to Burn?

Burn Koran Burn Quran Burn Koran Burn Quran - Saturday 9/11

Duncan Philp, founder of the Wyoming Tyranny Response Team, intends to burn a copy of the Koran on the steps of the State Capitol on Saturday.

He is protesting the location of a proposed Islamic Center near Ground Zero.  He is also protesting President Balack Obama's support for the location.

Congratulations to Duncan Philp.  Maybe him and a whole lot more will stand opposed to a Muslim Victory Monument on the site of 9/11.  It is truly amazing that the African President still doesn't see the issue, or does he?  Obama and his type have fought for many years against religious freedom for Christians in the U.S.  This is just another shot at it!

Burn Quran, Burn

Today, I was reading an article from theblaze.com entitled, "Imam: Ground Zero Mosque Won't Be Stopped".  It is about Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his determination to proceed with building the Muslim mosque near Ground Zero.  I quote a couple of his statements:

"The level of attention reflects the degree to which people care about the very American values under debate:  recognition of the rights of others, tolerance and freedom of worship. We are proceeding with the community center, Cordoba House."   He goes on to thank Obama and Bloomberg for their support.

Later he says that he is "very sensitive to the feelings of 9/11 survivors and family members"  and the Muslims will continue to "seek the support of those families" as they finalize construction plans.  I'm sure the survivors will feel much better once construction starts.

After reading this, I was struck with the realization that there is no difference between building a mosque near ground zero and burning Quran's on 9/11.  You really cannot justify supporting the one while speaking down about the other. I will say more about that in another post.

Then, tonight, I found that Ann Coulter has written an article expressing a similar idea.  The article is called, "Bonfire of the Insanities."

This is her concluding statement from that article:

"The reason not to burn Qurans is that it's unkind - not to jihadists, but to Muslims who mean us no harm.  The same goes for building a mosque at ground zero -- in both cases, it's not a question of anyone's rights, it's just a nasty thing to do."

The Frustrated Blogger

Recently Huttriver12 let it be known that he was checking out of the BlogEvolve community blog, after having been there for several years.  Why would he do that?

If you take his words at face value, it is easy to explain.  There are the good guys, Huttriver12 (himself) and Elly (she did more than anyone to make BlogEvolve successful).  Everyone else, according to Huttriver12 fits into one of two categories:  sploggers and Internet fools.  I know that I am not a splogger, so ...

He used this classification system in at least three of his posts.  I know the struggle with sploggers had gone on for some time (worthless site admin, for sure) so there are probably more chastising posts.

parting shot
shot over the bow
earlier shot over the bow

People blog for a number of reasons, and one of the reasons to blog on a community site is for the interaction with others.  They read your posts, and you read theirs.  This way writers feed off of each others ideas and also enjoy the fellowship along the way.  With the continual stream of splogger posts, and the diminishing number of active bloggers, the sense of community is diminished and the benefits are less.

So, yes, we can understand the frustration that the hard-working Huttriver12 and Elly experienced and why they feel their time is better spent elsewhere.  When I started on BlogEvolve, I was pretty new to the blogging scene and Elly was quite helpful.  She must have posted on almost every post I made.   And when I wasn't offending Huttriver12 with my 'definite political opinions fueled by frustration', he was also willing to read, comment regularly and even compliment on occasion.

Let me point out, though, it is a small, small world and we might just run into each other again.  In the meantime, maybe you want to join BlogEvolve and see if you can make it a better place.

Iodine

by Haven Kimmel

Enter the world of Trace Pennington - bizarre!  When they said 'delusional, psychotic, and brilliant', I guess they meant it.  Trace is strange and lives in a strange world.  She will explain it all to you.  For me, this character is so strange, she might as well be from a different planet.  If you are into English literature studies, you might benefit from the many quotes and readings from well-known psychologists like Freud and Jung, as well as other works of  literature.  But even you, may wonder at the detailed comparison of the guns owned by her brother and her father!

I do not know anything about Haven Kimmel, the author.  Do you?

From book cover:

"Delusional, psychotic, and brilliant, Trace Pennington has made a home for herself in an abandoned house while finishing her senior year of college.  Having endured a painful childhood, she is fiercely independent and highly withdrawn.  When she falls in love with her literature professor, a man who knows nothing about her true identity, Trace is forced to confront the ugliness of her past."

What Happened to BlogEvolve?

BlogEvolve is a community blogging site that has been around for several years.  In that time there has been some really good blogging and interaction on that site, but now it has pretty much been over-taken by the sploggers.

What is a splogger?  That word is a combination of 'spam' and 'blogger'.  Quite simply, a splogger is a person who continues to post garbage on a community blog.  They only post to fool search engines into increasing their exposure.  A splogger makes no effort to read what others post, or to interact with other bloggers.

BlogEvolve supposedly has an admin that should be doing something to control the splogging, but alas, the admin does not care enough to do anything, or even show up!

I have posted quite a bit on BlogEvolve, but in recent months, not so much.  As BlogEvolve prepares to go to hospice, there are two primary bloggers left and they are both fed up.

First, there is user Elly.  From the beginning, she has been the most faithful blogger and has written much.  Secondly, user huttriver has been faithful to keep blogging, but upon reaching 10,000 points, he intends to stop.

Here are the links:

Elly (australia)

Huttriver (New Zealand)

Even though others are leaving, and there is the issue of the sploggers, you still might consider getting on there and seeing what it is like.

NASA Image of the Day

The Expedition 24 crew on the International Space Station captured a unique shot of some multi-layer, multi color clouds over Greece. Polar mesospheric, or noctilucent ("night shining"), clouds usually are seen at twilight, following the setting of the sun below the horizon and darkening of Earth's surface, but in this instance they could be seen at sunrise.

NASA has plenty of explanation with the picture, but I still found it a bit confusing. The picture is nice, though.  There is lots more to see on the NASA website, and you can submit your email to receive the Image of the Day.

There is money!

Two trillion in cash, sitting, waiting!  Where, you ask?  In American businesses.  Why won't they spend it?  They will, once certain issues get settled.  Businesses (unlike Government) have slimmed down their budgets by eliminating over 2,000,000 workers since Congress passed the Stimulus in February 2009.  Businesses see change and most likely additional  costs in these areas:

     Taxes - business and personal

     Health care costs

     Energy costs

     Credit

     Labor costs

Quoting Eric Cantor (Minority Whip):

"No matter how much money President Obama borrows and spends, our economy simply will not recover until small, medium and large businesses have the confidence to put Americans back to work."

Ready for Obama Tax Increases?

Obama and his democrats are hoping to let the tax cuts put in place by George Bush expire.  According to Eric Cantor, Minority Whip in the House, this will mean a number of tax increases taking effect January 1, 2011.  Why is it that the democrats are so hungry for higher taxes?  They expect that such a move will fool Americans into believing that they are finally serious about improving the budget.  Will it work?

No.  After a two year assault on the taxpayers money with the wasteful and ineffective stimulus packages and now the undefined Obamacare, Cantor says "few Americans are even bothering to listen."  Increasing government revenue with more taxes will do nothing to improve our financial health.  Even if you double the tax rate, the Washington elite will just spend faster.

For the sake of image and Obama's political career, the democrats are willing to beat up the American people with these tax increases, while they make no effort to cut back on spending.  That is not right.

Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers

This morning I found an open bag of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish in the family room.  Guess the kids didn't have a chance to finish this one off.  These baked snack crackers were 'Pretzel' flavored, and they were quite tasty.

Here is a curious fact for you.  One serving is 43 pieces, which is 130 calories.  If you eat slowly and chew well, it will take you a bit to chomp through 43 goldfish.  The longer it takes, the more likely that this 130 calories will stave off your hunger.

Of course, the brief moment of elation is dimmed somewhat when you realize that it is 130 carbohydrate calories.  Does that work for you or not?

As if the goldfish were not enough, Pepperidge Farm has two websites for you to check out:

For the kids

For the parents

A Fair Tax For Bloggers?

If you have the opportunity to maintain a blog on the internet and there is a potential to make some money (Go Adsense!), then I ask you, how much should you pay to your local government in fees and taxes for this privilege?

To me it seems a crazy notion. You heard about blogging and learned how to do it. Then you figured out some ways to make a little money from your blog or website. Long before the city was even aware, you were doing the work (hopefully with a measure of enjoyment) and then you reaped a small reward.

What has the local government contributed to this process? Even though you already pay for the electricity coming to your home or apartment, you have used a little bit of that electricity to run your computer. So I guess you better pay up!

Recently the city of Philadelphia introduced a Business Privilege License applicable to various kinds of private contractors; including bloggers and freelance writers. Each blogger that has the potential to earn money from their blog is expected to pay $50 per year, or $300 for a lifetime license, even if your annual earnings are $5. In addition to the license fee, there is also a tax based on earnings.

Those who are more accepting of taxation are probably not too concerned with this because for many the annual fee may not be too burdensome. I, on the other hand, am concerned with the idea that local government can just decide to take money from the people. Historically the idea of a Business Privilege License was reasonable because many of the services provided by a city were beneficial to the storefront business. But a blogger?

Here is one article about this issue, but if you google “philly blogger fees”, you will find plenty more.

The Cost of a Toothbrush

Have you noticed how expensive toothbrushes have gotten?  The prices keep going up and up, and the cost is supposedly justified by superfluous design changes.  The changes include bolder colors, really flexible or contorted handles and a variety of colors and lengths of the actual bristles.

All this marketing and hype to make you think you are getting something special - the gift of a lifetime for your teeth.  But soon you realize that the longevity and usefulness of the brush is less than the previous simple designs.  Reminds me of an Obama program; all hype and no hope or change!

So last night at Wal-mart, to save a buck or two, I bought an Equate medium (mediano) toothbrush for $2.00.  You might recognize the Equate name brand as Wal-mart's generic label.  Toothbrush marketing hype:  textured tongue cleaner, multi level bristles, quality guaranteed.

I used the Equate toothbrush for the first time this morning - and only one bristle fell out!  Final judgment still pending.

Rolling Stone Being Bold About Politics

I found it interesting that the front cover of Rolling Stone magazine, (March 18, 2010), included this title:

"The GOP's Dirty War Against Obama"

Rolling Stone magazine is not primarily about politics, but rather entertainment.  Would they not be a bit concerned that their blatant political view might offend a portion of their readers?

It is true that many of the voters (young, college age) that originally put Obama into office are likely fans of Rolling Stone magazine.  Likewise, many of these young people are certainly intelligent enough to see that Obama's idealistic promise of 'Hope and Change' has amounted to nothing more than bullshit.  Certainly these voters are looking somewhere else for answers now, and that may even be the GOP.

For those who know something about politics, the democrats clearly own the expression "dirty war", so does the title even make sense?

(this political view is true and accurate, and most definitely unchallenged)

Glenn Beck Weekend

There will be plenty of activity this weekend in Washington, and the most important thing will be the Glenn Beck activities on Friday and Saturday.  On Saturday, there will be a Glenn Beck event at the Lincoln Memorial.  I think the theme is restoring honor.  What makes Glenn Beck a little unique is that he really does not emphasize political party.

This weekend you will see the mainstream media either scoff at Glenn Beck, or ignore him.  The mainstream media is a worthless Obama propaganda machine that should be put down!

Switching Story Lines

Linda Lael Miller is an excellent author.  The books I have read from her collection center around modern cowboy type figures that know about cattle, computers, and are learning about women.  I recently read a couple of books from her 'Montanna Creeds' series (Logan, Dylan) and then the next book I picked up was 'Tate' from the McKettrick series.  I decided this was not a good idea because both series are built on the family line.  I just thought it would be confusing.

So, I must first read 'Tyler', the third and last book of the Montana Creeds.  Then I will see about a somewhat orderly approach to the McKettrick series.

Meet the Creed cowboys of Montana: three estranged brothers who come home to find family—and love.

As I said, Linda Lael Miller is a good author.  What is your favorite book from her works?

Mark Against Verizon

My family has five people using Verizon phones.  Five Verizon phones and we are halfway through the two year contract.  One thing that has been obvious for sometime is that the quality of the phones is lacking.  The phones may have plenty of bells and whistles (some more than others), but they are certainly not made durable enough for daily use.

I was really disappointed last evening to find out that Verizon does not really care about this.  Apparently they consider the phone problems one more reason why you might upgrade sooner.  So, the choices are to either put more money in Verizon's pocket (when they do not deserve it) or continue to live with quirky phones that often do not do what they are supposed to.

Anyone else ever had this problem with Verizon phones?

Religious Fervor In The Media

The proposed Mosque at Ground Zero has certainly caused a stir.  If you are watching the media, you cannot miss the energy and resolve to stand up for the principle of religious freedom.  You are constantly reminded that it is one of the bedrocks of our great country.  In this case, of course, it is to protect the religious freedom of muslims.

Now, tell me, when have you ever seen this level of support for the religious freedom of Christianity?  You have not seen it in the U.S. for a long time.  Rather you have heard the never ending drum beat of 'separation of church and state'.  You have seen great efforts to remove religious symbols from the public eye:  ten commandments, Christmas manger scenes and prayer. This double standard reveals the great lie wrapped up in religious freedom when it comes to the left.

For contrast, consider this quote from the current news:

"Giuliani also said he agreed with Gov. David Paterson, who proposed the mosque be built on a location not associated with the same sensitivities as the land near Ground Zero.

Paterson last week offered to help the mosque developers find a new spot, perhaps on state land. When the developers shot down that idea, the governor said he would at least like to have a meeting with them to discuss it. That meeting has yet to be scheduled, and Paterson told NBCNewYork on Wednesday that there were no concrete plans to hold it at all."   Source

Notice the words underlined.  The Governor of New York apparently has no problem with Muslim religious symbols built on government property.  What happened to separation of church and state?

Greedy Like a School

The drive of greed is obviously alive and well all throughout the world we live in.  Consider American Airlines and their proud announcement of Express Seating.  This feature will allow passengers to pay an additional $19 to $39 to sit in the first few rows of coach.  They will also be in the first group to board.  We just got used to the idea of paying a fee for the first bag, and more for any subsequent bag.  But that wasn't enough to satisfy the greed, was it?  Now they want to charge more for some of the seats in 'cattle coach' and they justify it by calling these seats express.  This certainly sounds like an Obama initiative.

American Airlines greed reminds me of what school systems all across the country are doing this week.  The ever increasing school levees are not enough.  Now parents not only have to pay all kinds of additional fees, but they also must stock the supply cabinet.

In both of these scenarios, there is no mechanism to check the greed, so greed marches forward.

Obama's Grade Card

They say 'a picture is worth a thousand words' and it is really true when you look at Obama's grade card as president.  This chart is from the Gallup poll dated August 16, 2010.

Obama is seeing new lows and the link to the article is below.  I have included here the chart that shows Obama's crash according to political party.  So what does it show?

Democrats barely get it, just starting to catch on.

Independents seem to have had the greatest awakening, and this is most critical for elections.

Republicans obviously want to get rid of Obama, but it is sad how many were totally duped in the beginning. Of course there are a lot of RINO's and moderates that should not be counted among the Republicans.

Photobucket

New Lows in Job Approval

Even the Democrats

Even the Democrats that went on and on with Obama praises during the election can clearly see how inept and inadequate this little guy is for the Office of the President.  The article referenced below is so typical of democrats and it is actually quite hilarious when you think about it.

Maureen Dowd, liberal New York Times reporter who does not like Republicans and often criticized President G.W. Bush, is calling for George W. Bush to speak out on the Mosque issue.  Dowd is of course for the Mosque - being obsessed with multi-cultural support of immigrants and terrorists.  She says that Bush understands better than Obama the connection between the war on terror and the larger question of America's relationship with Islam.  For many years democrats have told the American people there is no war on terror, so what is she talking about.

Dowd also said she finds it "odd" that Obama seems less sure on the matter.  That is really odd when you consider that Obama is a Muslim.  The problem is when the african muslim attempts to act like a true American.  The act is just too much to pull off.

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson is also calling for G.W. Bush and Peter Beinart, former editor of New Republic, says he pines for GW Bush.

I know the above is hard to believe, so you can follow the link and read it for yourself.  The amazing thing is how it puts in black and white right before our faces that Obama is worthless as a President.

Mosque supporters beg George W. Bush

My Private Blog

Looking on the bright side, one of the nice things about my This 'n That blog is that it is very private.  I can record whatever I want here and I am practically guaranteed that no one will see it.  It is a very rare thing that I have a visitor, so I am pretty safe.  How rare?  Let's say I have a better chance of winning a mega jackpot of money in the lottery.

So, I guess, to broaden my scope, I can start recording any of my most deep dark secrets here.  Did you know that I was thinking about ___?  I can tell people what I think of you and all the secrets you have told me.  I can tell everyone what you have done, even though you did not know I was 'in the know'.  I might even make up some nasty jokes about your mother.  Oops!

So many juicy tidbits are available and I won't even have to make them up.

Get ready to have all of this going on behind your back and out of your view.  Just because you won't read my blog!

Strong Opposition to the Mosque

Muslims must be defeated in their attempt to ram their mosque down our throats. Have we forgotten the act of war and terrorism that was thrust upon our country on 9/11? Those who are really Americans and care about this country have not forgotten. Together, they will stand as an army, ready to fight the notion that the bull crap of multicultural diversity and political correctness is enough reason to allow the enemy to erect a victory monument at Ground Zero. Oppose the Mosque! Oppose Obama and Pelosi! Oppose any Muslim who wants this! Oppose any politician who throws their support to the enemy! Investigate the liberal democrats and socialists trying to destroy the United States of American. It is time for Revolutionary thinking. We must fight for what is right. We must oppose the mosque! We must tear down the notion that we must bow down to the terrorist who practice hate and destruction. They who call us infidels want us to show them tolerance. Declare war on such nonsense. Tear down the idea of a mosque to celebrate terrorism. Impeach the little man in the White House. Knock the Mosque down on his head!

Grave-Side Service

You might find this interesting!

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral

director to play at a grave side service for a homeless man.
He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's
cemetery in the Kentucky back-country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost; and being a typical
man I didn't stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late and saw
the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight.

There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I
felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of
the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't
know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played
out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played
like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played 'Amazing Grace,' the workers began to weep. They wept, I
wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and
started for my car. Though my head hung low my heart was full.

As I was opening the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I
never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks
for twenty years."

Why can't men just ask for directions?

Obama Shames America

Have you felt the shame and embarrassment when Obama represents our country very poorly.  I have.  He is a disgrace and he cares not who it affects.  When he is focused on his domestic role, he is more focused on self-praise and demanding his own way.

When the worst president ever has a foreign audience he has on many occasions made it clear that he is ashamed of the way our country has conducted itself and is seeking other countries to forgive us.  He does not acknowledge how great our country is and has been in the past.

Of course this is totally expected from a president who has been steeped in Marxist communism, socialism and anti-Americanism.

Mike has written a nice article with plenty of examples to jog your memory.

Obama's Big Lie

Obama got elected on the big promise of Hope and Change.  As long as he has been in office, I'm not sure he has improved any one's situation, except a few of his closest buddies (and Michelle).  Rather his is creating an unbelievable debt load for the tax payers to struggle under.  This picture is quite telling - in between you and the man of hope and change, is his fist, by which he demands his own way, regardless of what it does to the people.

If he had any integrity at all, he would resign and take flappin' Joe with him!

How to Read Obama on Ground Zero

Given enough time, Obama will appear to make conflicting statements about an issue.  He thinks by doing this he keeps the people guessing and will keep himself out of trouble.  Thinking people can see right through his scam!

Obama's first statement on an issue is the one you can typically rely on, especially if he says it with resolve.  Last Friday he made a strong statement regarding the Muslim mosque proposed for ground zero:

"Let me be clear:  As a citizen and as President I believe that Muslims have the same right...to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan"

Sometimes his first statement is just spoken from his heart, without a lot of for-thought and planning.  Other times, the statement is well thought out and he is proposing the way he wants thing to be.  If their is a negative response from the public, then he will make a conflicting/confusing statement and try to hide his actual intentions.  He will stand by his original statement if there is no negative response from the public (or the public he cares about at the time.)

If there is any lingering doubt, consider these quotes:

Mahmoud al-Zahar (leader of Hams, terrorist organization):  said Muslims 'have to build everywhere' so that followers can pray, just like Christians and Jews build their places of worship.

Muslims pray with bombs, so I think they can build elsewhere.

Developer Sharif el-Gamal said:  "We are deeply moved and tremendously grateful for our President's words."

I say it is time for many Americans to get deeply moved!

Muslims have their rights, too.

Really?  Do they?  Are you saying that any group that comes to the United States can have whatever they want because it is their right?  I would say not in this case, for the following reasons:

Muslims were responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.  There is no doubt about that.  Ah, but you say that was just a few extremists, and that Muslims are peace loving.  Muslims have been at war with Israel for centuries.  How is the peace thing working?  The so-called moderate Muslims have chosen not to voice  opposition to the 9/11 attacks, and polls at that time indicated 40% of Muslims were supportive.

Muslims are here looking to build a Muslim country.  They have no desire to be Americans, for Americans are infidels that deserve death.  Muslims are also making it quite clear that they have no respect for Americans or people of other faiths.  They declare that it is their right to build a mosque where ever they want, and if you don't like it, screw you!

Obama's Free Gift to Muslims

Obama (the first African President of the U.S.) has once again made it obvious that 'once a Muslim, always a Muslim' applies to him.  This past weekend (as he was celebrating Ramadan) he voiced his strong support of building a mosque near Ground Zero.  If this mosque is built, it will be a real slap in the face for America.

Muslims are already rejoicing that they pulled off the 911 attacks.  What better way to increase their boasting than to build a Muslim mosque at the same location!  This would be really convenient for the next cell group with New York as their target!

Obama needs to go to Africa, 'the land that he loves'.

More on the Bad Assumption

In my previous post, I talked about the erroneous assumption that leads people to expect proportional representation in any group of people they observe. Thomas Sowell has written an excellent article on this and I am sharing a few key points for you to consider.
Here are some examples:

If you watch football, you have often seen black players score touchdowns, but probably have never seen a black player kick an extra point. Is there a reason that teams do not want minority players to kick the extra point?

In basketball, blacks are clearly overrepresented and whites underrepresented. Is this a bit of racial scheming by blacks to control the game?

Government regulation of the housing market was increased when statistics showed that blacks were turned down for mortgages more often than whites. The scream of racism went throughout the land and some really bad decisions were made to ‘fix’ the problem.  However they cherry picked the facts they wanted to see, and failed to mention these:
- whites were turned down more often than Asians

- black-owned banks also turned down blacks more often than whites

- credit scores differed from group to group

Thomas Sowell has this sharp concluding statement: “The bean-counters are everywhere pushing the idea that differences show injustices committed by society. As long as we keep buying it, they will keep selling it – and the polarization they create will sell this country down the river.”

Don’t let baloney guide your thinking.

This Bad Assumption about Race

An article by Thomas Sowell shows clearly how people get the wrong idea when they adopt a wrong assumption to start with.

This is the wrong assumption that people are making, “that different races, sexes, and other subdivisions would be proportionately represented in institutions, occupations, and income brackets if there were not something strange or sinister going on.”

If a person has adopted this assumption into their thinking, they will be the first to speak up if their ‘type’ of person is not represented in a group of people in accord with overall representation in the population. This erroneous thinking is the foundation of ‘token’ mentality and people attempting to use the race card.

The New York Times is one example of media that wants to feed off the race issue, so they find amazing stats like this:

Baseball coaches from minority groups are more often coaching at first base than third base. Also third base coaches become managers more often first base coaches. The implication is that managers are more often selected out of the pool that has fewer minorities. Is there something strange or sinister going on?

Are we to then think that maybe all 9 positions on the baseball team are being populated according to race?

More on this topic in my next post.

From that other blog

Just for the fun of it, here are the last two things I posted on BlogEvolve, a community blog.  The first is a sister to a post here, the second is unique.

sister post

unique

Street View, Literally

Over the years there have been numerous discussions about the 'Street View' feature of Google Maps.  There has been concern that the Google van equipped with special cameras was recording too much as it moved down the street.  Recently in Worcester, United Kingdom, the 'Street View' camera picked up much more than the neighborhood.  The cameras actually recorded the body of a 10 year old girl lying on the street.  Is she dead?

Fortunately, the girl was not dead, or even hurt.  Her and a friend had been playing and she had the fleeting thought to lay down and pretend she was dead.  It was at that point that the Google van drove by.  Turns out the girl didn't think anything of the vehicle she heard driving by.  Neither did she know her picture had been taken.

Azura, the girl,  said: ‘I didn’t know anything about the Google Street View car (recording me). I fell over while I was playing with my friend and thought it would be funny to play dead.  ‘I’m quite chuffed I’m on the Internet. It is quite funny and I can’t wait to tell my classmates when I go back to school.’

Bloomberg wants to forget!

You may have seen in the news that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to build a Muslim mosque very close to Ground Zero. Liberal democrats seem to like this multicultural inclusivity, but most Americans find it appalling.

This sign for a bus ad campaign in New York was rejected.

When asked about the rejection, CBS Outdoor stated "images of 911 were not allowed." In a series of compromise revisions, the plane, smoke and flames were removed. Then the plane was put back in, but far from the building.

This exercise in censorship led to Freedom Defense Initiative filing a lawsuit against the city of New York. It was the Metropolitan Transit Authority that in the end refused the campaign because it contained 911 images.

Eventually, The MTA woke up and the jihad against free speech was stopped. The ad ran as originally designed.

As we approach September, it will be so important to post plenty of true 911 pictures so people like Bloomberg cannot squelch the truth.

The First Jock

The worthlessness of Obama continues to manifest itself in new ways. According to the liberal, Obama-loving Washington Post:

Quote begins:
"You must always remember that the president is about 6."

This advice was offered more than 100 years ago by a British friend of Teddy Roosevelt's. The nation has matured since then, and so has the presidency. Now the president is about 12.

While President Obama's wife and younger daughter were conducting international relations in Majorca on Sunday with Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, the commander in chief was at home hosting a fantasy camp for himself. He and his buddies had a birthday weekend barbecue and basketball game with LeBron James, Alonzo Mourning, Magic Johnson and other legends of the sport.

The day before, it was a four-hour golf outing for Obama and the boys. On Monday, he hosted the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints at the White House and talked about his own exploits on the gridiron last year with Saints quarterback Drew Brees. "He tossed me a nice tight spiral that I then lateraled to a kid on [Dallas Cowboys linebacker] DeMarcus Ware's shoulders," the president recalled. "I also want to point out I beat [Pittsburgh Steelers safety] Troy Polamalu over the middle on that throw." Obama turned to Brees. "You remember?"
Quote ends.

I suspect First Jock barely puts in a 40 hour week. Come the weekend, he has not a care in the world as Michelle and he spend our tax dollars on their pleasure. Definitely time to oust this loser!

Experience Asperger's Syndrome

Consider reading:

"House Rules" by Jodi Picoult

This book paints a realistic picture of life with Asperger's Syndrome. The fact that A.S. leads to a murder mystery will keep you pulled in. Here is the brief description from the library:

"With Asperger's syndrome, teenager Jacob Hunt is unable to have the same kind of social life other boys his age have. However, like other kids with AS, he has homed in on one particular interest: forensic analysis. He normally shows up to crime scenes and helps solve the case, but this time he is the prime suspect. When a murder leads police to question Jacob, they interpret his AS symptoms as a sign of guilt and cast a very public spotlight on Jacob and his family."

To Marinate a Cat

Let's just suppose you were going to eat your cat, and you thought that marinating would make the treat even more delectable. How would you do it? What would you marinate it with? Oh, by the way, you marinate the cat before it's dead. At least in Buffalo that is how they do it.

Sick, weird, disturbed or violent? Maybe all of the above.

Worthwhile Bumper Sticker

I liked the bumper sticker I saw today:

"I'll honor your president just like you honored mine!"

For eight years, democrats said the most nasty and dis-respectful things about President George Bush. Most of it was lies, which is why we saw it in the mainstream media every night.

So, what are the chances that a reasonable American citizen would honor Osama Obama, the first african president of the USA? Cannot imagine it ever happening, since he has clearly demonstrated that he knows nothing. Spouting campaign lies is all the community organizer has done and continues to do. Get Rid Of The Loser!

Giving Blood

One reason you might give blood to another person is that you are dead - tends to lower your resistance to any previous phobias.

Mauricio Mendez Lopez, 42 from Bartow, Fla has acknowledged drinking the blood of his brother, but does not remember what else happened. In a nutshell, the two men were fighting about one woman until a 15 pound dumbbell connected with the head of one of the men. The three are related to each other. Cruz did not die until Lopez came back later and stabbed him to death.

The woman later reported to the police "Lopez left with a plastic cup in his hand that appeared to hold blood. She said he drank from the cup in a strange ritual from their native Mexico.

All three adults are reported to be illegal immigrants. No doubt, Obama and Michelle (when she is broke in Spain) will do everything they can to promote these three up to the Whitehouse, or maybe the Supreme Court.
