T.E.A Party - Australian Style

According to an article in the Australian, the TEA Party movement is underway in Australia. TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already. It is a grass roots movement that started in the United States where it is giving the people a fresh voice for the government to hear. The TEA Party movement is mostly conservative, but its focus is on issues that both Republicans and Democrats (those that can think for themselves) want to stand behind.

They focus on these three questions:
  • What should be the role of government in the economy?
  • What should be the role of government in people's lives?
  • Do you believe that you can spend your money better than the government?
The TEA Party is not a political party, but rather a political movement hoping to influence existing political parties. The group does back individual politicians, but so far they are not saying who that will be in Australia.

I think this will be a positive thing for the Australian people and their government. I hope it proves to be so.
